We are a strictly free verse and short prose publication. We will consider most genres as long as the piece has literary undertones. We are a paying market. We pay $10 per poem and $0.01 per word (up to 750 words).

Submissions for scissors & spackle are accepted from September 20th to 12:01 A.M. EST October 31st. We publish our annual issue in February.

2017 Guest Editor: Jennifer Givhan

Jennifer Givhan’s poetry collection Landscape with Headless Mama won the 2015 Pleiades Editors’ Prize and is currently available for purchase (Buy Here). Jennifer describes the collection as, “A surreal guide that views motherhood and the speaker’s relationships (with her own mother, children, and partner) through the lens of hereditary mental illness and cultural and familiar myths.” Jennifer’s accolades are impressive with over a hundred publications. Her work has appeared in the Best of the Net 2015, Best New Poets 2013, The Kenyon Review, Prairie Schooner, the runner-up for the 2015 Indiana Review Poetry Prize. Jennifer Givhan is also a past contributor to scissors & spackle. Her poetry collection Daughter’s Curse will be available for purchase through ELJ Publications in 2017.
